Valloire, Maurienne-Galibier, Alpes, France
In Valloire, Ascenteck supported the integration of ZipTronik on La Catelle, a large mountain zip line designed as an experience that is spectacular, technical and durable.
Located in a demanding alpine environment, this installation illustrates Ascenteck’s ability to work on projects where technology must adapt to the terrain, operating conditions and expectations of a four-season tourist site.
With ZipTronik, La Catelle is not based solely on the descent: the smart trolley helps improve control over operating cycles, ensure a more regular service and reduce the constraints associated with manual handling.
Ascenteck’s work covered the technical design, the adaptation of the ZipTronik system to the site profile, the delivery of the associated equipment, and the alignment of the installation with the resort’s operational needs.
A large mountain zip line requires a precise understanding of the terrain: line length, elevation difference, exposure, speed, arrival constraints, operator access and weather conditions. In Valloire, the challenge was to integrate a mechatronic solution capable of adapting to a demanding line profile, while maintaining a smooth experience for the end user.
ZipTronik provides a concrete response to the operational challenges of large zip lines: automated trolley return, reduced manual handling, improved cycle continuity and control adapted to the site conditions. For on-site teams, this approach helps reduce repetitive physical operations and allows operations to focus on visitor reception, safety and the quality of the customer experience.
A cable-based installation does not end with commissioning. It must be monitored, inspected, adjusted and maintained over time to ensure reliable operation. In Valloire, Ascenteck works within a long-term technical follow-up and maintenance approach, supporting the operator over time and helping preserve the installation’s performance.
La Catelle illustre une approche complète : comprendre le site, adapter la solution technique, accompagner l’exploitation et suivre l’installation dans le temps.
Study of the constraints linked to the terrain, elevation difference, exposure and operating conditions specific to a large mountain zip line.
Adaptation of the smart trolley to the line’s operating logic, with particular attention paid to cycle regularity, operating comfort and speed control.
Verification of the installation’s behaviour, technical adjustments and support for the teams to ensure operation is consistent with the site’s needs.
La Catelle is part of a summer / winter tourism activity strategy, with an installation designed to strengthen the appeal of the area beyond the ski season alone.
Regular controls, interventions, adjustments and technical support help maintain the quality and reliability of the installation over time.
This gallery highlights the installation in its environment: departure at altitude, overflight of the area, integration into the Valloire landscape and the presence of the ZipTronik system on a large zip line operated in real conditions.
La Catelle represents an important reference for Ascenteck: a large mountain zip line, operated on a recognised tourist site, with technology capable of bringing greater control to daily operations.
This project highlights several key areas of expertise:
Beyond the spectacular effect, this project shows the value of a complete approach: designing a strong experience while also ensuring realistic, durable and manageable operation for on-site teams
Ascenteck supports local authorities, resorts, tourism operators and project owners in the design and delivery of cable-based installations adapted to their site.
From feasibility studies to commissioning, our teams work with a field-based, technical and operational approach.
